Italy - Franti NISI MASA Italia
Franti – NISI MASA Italia is a cultural association based in Torino, created by cinema students and young professionals working in the audiovisual sector. The first core of the association was born in 2001 during the international youth meeting organised by the European association Villes et Cinema on the occasion of the Brussels Film Festival. After this meeting the Italian crew began to work on some topics, which would become the main purposes of the association:1) to enlarge the passion and interest for cinema amongst young people, by means of film screenings and workshops;
2) to involve young people in European knowledge and awareness through actual meetings with participants coming from different countries;
3) to reach these aims through enjoyment and entertainment: because, as the association’s motto states, its members think that “having fun is a serious matter”.
Since 2002 Franti has organised youth meetings, cinema lectures, screenings focussed on outstanding directors, scriptwriting workshops and courses.
In 2004, with the support of the European Youth Programme, and in association with Mutua Studentesca Torino and Youth and Culture in Europe, Franti organised “Quartieri d’Europa – European Districts” a youth exchange with participants coming from multicultural districts of France and Italy.
It has around 20 active members, both students and young professionals working in the audiovisual sector, and aims to raise interest for cinema amongst young people and develop thought-provoking cultural projects.
