The Films

You can read below the titles and synopses of our finished Cine-Boat workshop films, 6 short documentaries coming to a festival or screening near you in 2012:

 

DRIFTING HOME (9’32)

The ferries represent a key element in our protagonists’ everyday lives. This film takes them on board to navigate through their reflections upon their own life paths, and how they led them to the islands.

 

PIKKU-KALLE? (12’)
Alastair Cole, Daniel Szöllosi, Anna Dmitrieva

Who Is Pikku-Kalle? Are you Pikku-Kalle? This short documentary is a film about just what it means to grow up, to tell a joke, and to be Finnish. The film scours the beautiful Finnish archipelago of Turku for the mischievous character of Pikku-Kalle, giving an insight into the satirical world of Finland, and reminding us of the naughty child that is inside every one of us.

 

VELVOLLISUUS / DUTY (8’21)

9 people recount their most remarkable memories from the Finnish army service; they try to reconstruct the situations again… and this leads to unexpected experiences…

 

UTÖPIA (8’23)
Silvio Ivicic, Sam Batink, Laure Anna Franquès

Filmed on the islands of Houtskari (Houtskär) and Utö, this story portrays two different generations of the archipelago’s women and their thoughts on life and happiness.
