NISI MASA – the European Network of Young Cinema presents POLYGLOT: on the way to Turku, an audiovisual project about multilingualism.
18 young talents, selected through an online video contest were invited aboard “Cine-Boat”, our itinerant filmmaking event which travelled across the archipelago of Turku from 3rd – 17th June 2011. The Cine-Boat visited the island communities, shooting short documentary films. The region is home to many Swedish-speaking Finns, who have their own distinct cultural identity.
The filmmakers then presented their work during a POLYGLOT film festival (18th -19th June) in Turku, as the city celebrated its status as European Capital of Culture. All short films of the project will later be diffused through a DVD compilation and follow-up screenings across Europe.
POLYGLOT – on the way to Turku is organised by NISI MASA, the European network of young cinema, with the support of the Turku 2011 European Cultural Capital and the European Cultural Foundation.
