Meet the Jury of European Short Pitch 2016!

 

Aleksandra Świerk 

Scriptwriter and script consultant. She has been developing her skills in the field of scriptwriting since 2007, taking part in numerous workshops and trainings organized by such institutions as Sources2, Midpoint FAMU, The Script Factory, In_Script, NISI MASA. As a script consultant she has worked on feature, documentary and animated projects, both – national and international. Currently she is developing her directional debut and theatrical play about mythical power of female kind. Participant of European Short Pitch 2015 with her short script „Camouflage”.

 

 

 

Aleksandra ZakharchenkoAleksandra Zakharchenko

Aleksandra was born in Kiev, Ukraine. She had been working as a coordinator at numerous music and cinema festivals such as Noveaux Cinema Ukraine and Cinemascope. She had been also developing social and business projects in Ukraine with international NGOs JCI and Rotaract. After getting her Master degree in International economics, she had been working on elaboration of solar energy systems in Crimea and southern parts of Ukraine.

In 2012 she moved to France to devote herself fully to the realm of cinema, working as a festival programmer in Nancy. In 2013 she has joined Nisi Masa’s team as European Short Pitch project coordinator. She’s been also writing for UK film platform, Film Debate, as a foreign film critic. She’s currently getting her second Master’s degree in Cultural Management.

 

 

 

Daan BunnikDaan Bunnik

Daan Bunnik is a young award winning filmmaker based in The Netherlands. In 2012 he graduated with his film Skin feels (De huid voelt). The film depicts his perception on the ageing body of his parents and it won 3 awards and screened at more than 25 filmfestivals around the world (a.o. IDFA, Uppsala, NYC Indie, Encounters). Currently he completed his new hybrid short, Tibor, that combines autobiographical voice over with fiction images and portrays the depressed feelings Bunnik had during his student years. Besides this his other film Headbutt (Kopstoot) exposes the transforming relationship of two adolescent brothers. The script of Headbutt was selected to be part of NISI MASA’s European Short Pitch, received its first funding and will be produced by Volya Films.

 

 

 

 

Deyan BararevDeyan Bararev

Deyan (born 1987 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a graduate student in Film Directing and Business Administration in New Bulgarian University. Former participant of the Berlinale and Sarejevo Talents 2015 and Nisimasa’s ESP 2015, he is a director, writer and producer of 3 short films, the controversial in Bulgaria and awarded “Botev is an idiot” (2013) and his newest film “Maika mi calling” (2015). He is one of the co-founders of “Don’t do productions” based in Sofia, Bulgaria and is currently working on his next short film – “Batmobile”.

 

 

 

 

 

Gorana JovanovicGorana Jovanović

Gorana is a filmmaker from Serbia who spends most of her time writing and when opportunities arise, turns her scripts into films.

Marijana (born Belgrade in 1986) is a Berlin based writer and filmmaker.
She is an MA graduate in Dramaturgy and Creative Writing at the University of Arts in Belgrade, and holds an MA in Theater Studies at the Free University Berlin.
Verhoef’s plays premiered i.a. at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (Amsterdam, staged by Nurkan Erpulat) and Theater Augsburg (Playboy, staged by Katrin Plötner).
She is frequently collaborating with Lazy Bear Animation and Deutsches Theater Berlin.

With her artist collective Mixed Pickles, Verhoef is focused on creative direction in a range of multi disciplines from film making to literature events.

 

 

Odeta CunajOdeta Çunaj

Odeta Çunaj has a degree in Film Direction from the Academy of Arts in Tirana in 2010. She has worked as a Script Supervisor and Casting Director in several internationally renown films. In 2009 her short film “Signs” was awarded the Best Albanian Short Film at the Tirana Film Festival. Her short film project “Heaven has got fooled” was selected at European Short Pitch 2015.

 

 

 

 

 

Thelyia PetrakiThelyia Petraki

Graduated from CalArts (LA, USA) with a BA in Film and Video and from UCL (London, UK) with a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology. For many years has produced and directed various TV Spots. In 2008 established Topspot Film & Location Company (Athens, Greece). Has directed in 2012 the short film “PRAY” (www.prayshortfilm.com), in 2015 the feature documentary “Me and the Others” (www.meandtheothersdoc.com) which is been co-produced with OTE TV and has a short film in pre-production “Helga is in Lund” (www.helgaisinlund.com) which is already funded by the GFC and See Cinema Network.

Vilja (1983) is a screenwriter and a filmmaker from Helsinki, Finland. She’s now doing her master studies in screenwriting in Aalto University. After graduating from the previous school (Metropolia 2011) she has analyzed scripts for Finnish production companies, written her own projects and worked actively in organizations which are organizing alternative film schooling and – making in Finland, e.g. by organizing screenwriting groups. Autiokyrö was one of the three to win the price of the Best Pitch in the European Short Pitch 2014, with her script Motor Oil.

 

 

 

 

 

Wim VanackerWim Vanacker

Wim Vanacker was born in Izegem, Belgium. After studying psychology and filmstudies in Gent and Antwerpen, he moved to Dublin to work as a psychologist in the field of drug addiction. During this period he was employed as a film critic and a programmer for several filmfestivals. After which he moved to Paris and picked up studying again at EICAR, the International Film School of Paris where he made two shorts. Endgame, which got selected for 24 festivals and won 5 awards along the way, and The Naked leading the Blind, which got selected for 60 festivals thus far while winning 20 awards. After graduating, he discovered NISI MASA – European Network of Young Cinema and started off working as the project coordinator of the MEDIA funded project, European Short Pitch to finally become the Head of the Script Department. On the side, he also works as a script consultant, tutor and guest speaker for festivals such as Cannes, Clermont-Ferrand, Encounters and Interfilm. Recently, he founded Sireal Films, a Brussels based production company where he produced the VAF funded short film empire by Kristof Hoornaert. As a Writer / Director, he’s currently developing two short films, First Aid and [ˈsɪə.ri.əl ], both produced by the Paris based production company In Vivo Films.

 

Jerome NunesJérôme Nunes

After spending six years in the British Isles where he studied and taught cinema and literature at university, Jérôme Nunes settled in Marseille.

Since 2012, he has been co-organising European Short Pitch and especially the coproduction forum held in Luxembourg. As a scriptwriter, director and ESP alumni, he has regularly worked as script consultant.

In 2010, he created with three associates the French production company Films de Force Majeure  that specialises in films with all types of contents and formats, supporting daring films and focusing on international collaborations. In 2015, he is in charge of distribution within the company, with the release of two feature documentaries planned for 2016.
