-Fabienne Aguado
Fabienne Aguado holds a BA in Film Studies (thesis about Jacques Tati) and a Masters Degree in Sociology. Her early professional life was spent on film sets and on writing film reviews. Her experience includes managing a film production company, running evenings for film clubs, reading scripts, being a script consultant and a regular member of juries attributing development grants.
In 1998, she helped founding the Centre for Cinematographic Scripts (CÉCI) and has been managing it for the past seven years. The CÉCI holds its offices at the Moulin d’Andé, a cultural association of international reputation located in Normandy (France) where artists have found support and inspiration over the last fifty years. It provides a permanent program for film screenwriting which supports innovative and personal projects.
- Orsolya Benko
Based in Budapest, Hungary, Orsolya Benko is working as member of the script development board of the Hungarian National Film Fund. After graduating at the Faculty of Cinema Aesthetics and English Studies at ELTE University of Sciences in Budapest, she completed a research work at the Faculty of Cinema and Audiovisual at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris. As part of her studies, she did a traineeship as a production and distribution assistant to Philip Bober for The Coproduction Office in Paris. She has contributed to the organisation of several film festivals in Budapest and joined the Hungarian Desk of the MEDIA Programme. She started collaborating as a script consultant in 2007 with Hungarian production companies. In 2010 she participated as a story editor trainee in the Script&Pitch Workshop organised by Torino FilmLab, and as a tutor in Nisi Masa’s European Short Pitch in 2011 and 2012.
Currently she is also cooperating on various Hungarian and international projects as a script consultant.
- Nadja Dumouchel
Nadja Dumouchel’s current field of activities are script consulting, film programming, transmedia development, talent scouting and journalism. As a polyglot (French, German, English, Spanish), she is dedicated to the international art house film scene. She studied visual culture in Brighton, journalism and literature in Berlin and cinema in Valencia. Nadja worked as a programmer and commissioning editor for ARTEs short film magazine Court-Circuit. She was later hired by the international distribution and production company PREMIUM FILMS in Paris, before going back to ARTE in the feature film section in 2010.
She now contributes to the development of international film projects in collaboration with ARTE Germany, working closely with authors and directors on scripts. She is also in charge of a short film collection produced every year by the students of Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris (European production master class), as well as of the attached transmedia-project on ARTE CREATIVE. Nadja was trained as a story editor at the Torino Film Lab and has since then been working on scripts from all over the world.
- Razvan Radulescu
Razvan Radulescu is a productive Romanian scriptwriter. As a director, he only made one film. He is the representative of the so-called post-revolution cinema in Romania and is part of the most successful generation of Romanian filmmakers, whose films marked the international film scene over the past decade. He studied at the Philology at the University of Bucharest and Opera Directing at the Music Academy of Bucharest. His literary debut was a collection of anthologies entitled Family Portrait, published in 1985. His 1997 novel The Life and Deeds of Elijah Cazane won the Best Debut Prize by the Romanian Writers Guild. His second novel, Theodosius the Small (2006) won the EU Prize for Litterature.
As a scriptwriter, he has collaborated with numerous successful directors such as Cristi Puiu, Cristian Mungiu and Radu Muntean. His filmography includes: STUFF AND DOUGH (2001) and THE DEATH OF MR LĂZĂRESCU (2005) directed by Cristi Puiu; THE PAPER WILL BE BLUE (2005), BOOGIE (2008) and TUESDAY AFTER CHRISTMAS (2009) directed by Radu Muntean; SHELTER, directed by Dragomir Scholev (2009). He co-wrote and co-directed FIRST OF ALL FELICIA together with Melissa de Raaf, and was the script consultant for 4 MONTHS, 3 WEEKS, 2 DAYS by Cristian Mungiu (2007) and for THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF NICOLAE CEAUSESCU (2011) by Andrei Ujica. Between 2005 and 2012, he was a frequent guest teacher and lecturer at Hochschule fur Gestaltung in Karlsruhe, the ESAV Marrakech and the York University in Toronto.
- Leonardo Staglianò
Leonardo Staglianò was born in 1978 in Poland but he grew up in Italy. He earned an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Florence, an M.A. in Techniques of Narration from the Scuola Holden in Turin and an M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. He wrote plays and radio dramas and published short stories in anthologies and literary magazines, including the Italian edition of Granta.
His film scripts have been selected for festivals and workshops such as the Torino Film Lab and the Biennale College – Cinema (Venice Film Festival). He has collaborated as a story editor with writers, publishing houses and film companies, among them Big Beach Films and Indiana Production Company. He’s a former participant of the European Short Pitch.

CALL FOR PROJECTS
To all scriptwriters,
As part of GENERATOR, an intensive sample of workshops set up by NISI MASA on a yearly basis, as well as seminars, forums and otherround table discussions about young filmmaking in Europe, NISI MASA organises a scriptwriting marathon!
From 25 to 27 January 2013 in Strasbourg, France, NISI MASA is looking for 16 young European scriptwriters between 18 and 35, with a short film project that they wish to develop through a dynamic workshop.
No topic imposed, but a story that has been on yourmind for a while, an idea which you cannot develop on your own, a subject matter that you deeply care about. You will have 3 days to boost your project and leave with a script.
The workshop will be monitored by Wim Vanacker and Jérôme Nunes, organisers of European Short Pitch, an event that combines a scriptwriting residency and a coproduction forum, and Nadja Dumouchel, a story editor working for ARTE Germany, Torino Film Lab and European Short Pitch.
On top of the writing periods, script consulting and feedback sessions, you will make the most of the surrounding synergy and the various events to meet other young film enthusiasts with exciting projects.
Beginning of workshop: 25.01.2013 @ 3pm
End of workshop: 27.01.2013 @ 3pm

Practical info: For EU, Croatia and Turkey citizens, NISI MASA covers accommodation for 3 nights (CIARUS hostel) as well as 75 % of transportation costs (up to €200).
If interested in participating in Generator if not selected, please fill in the general Generator
application form as well to make sure you'll be eligible for the refund. Available slots are running out so better be quick. Underneath you’ll find the link that’ll take you to the general application form.
If ONLY interested in attending the scriptwriting marathon, the deadline for applications is December 28th. If you would like to attend the whole of Generator, you have to apply by December 15th. The capacity of the scriptwriting marathon is ONLY 12 people, so we suggest you apply for Generator as well in case you wouldn’t get selected.

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
25th - 27th January, Strasbourg (France)
Between January 25-27, 2013 NISI MASA is organizing GENERATOR - Youth Audiovisual Forum in Strasbourg. We are looking for 120 participants aged 18 – 35 who will not only be debating the future of audiovisual culture in Europe along with experts and policy makers, but will also take part in a number of daily workshops. In three days NISI MASA will lead you through a journey of different activities: from a Kino Cabaret, a scriptwriting marathon, Nisimazine workshop to other trainings, seminars and discussion panels on transmedia, youth and audiovisual European funding, alternative ways of cultural funding, to evening screenings.
Expect a NISI MASA festival!
Expect Kino Kabaret, where 40 adrenaline-driven film-makers, will be on a movie making frenzy. On the final evening of the forum your films will be screened and frugal and fun filmmaking will truly make a splash on European audiovisual culture. What is Kino Kabaret?
Expect a scriptwriting marathon where participants will be guided in bringing their ideas closer to the screen by learning about cinematographic story telling through an intense submersion into the world of inspiration, confrontation and going crazy. Battling with a promising idea, the NISI MASA trainers will guide you and help you develop it. Come to Strasbourg and be a part of writing the story of GENERATOR.

Expect a film-criticism workshop, where an experienced team that has been involved in organizing the many Nisimazine workshops will be there to give you a crash practical course. We will be selecting 20 participants with a passion for cinema and a knack for words who will get a chance to learn more on writing about films. Previous experience in film journalism, professional or otherwise, is not required. We're hoping to help you polish your skills in order to help you make your critical voices heard.
Expect a workshop on genre films moderated by 7 Tape Productions, who will talk about the ways to start a genre based film project, concretely a horror movie – from casting to directing. Also, if you'd like to present your film and get feedback from other filmmakers, the “Feedback Me” panel is just for you.
If you are a cultural manager or work at an NGO, you can participate in culture management trainings provided by experienced trainers from our member associations.
Besides the workshops you'll have the opportunity to attend debates and panels with European audiovisual professionals, experts and policy makers. The NISI MASA member associations will screen films resulted in their previous projects and they will present what they are planning next during a project fair.
For EU citizens NISI MASA is providing free accommodation for 3 nights in CIARUS Hostel and covering 75% of travelling costs (up to 200 Euro) if you apply until December 15, 2012. Participation fee: 20 euros.

Our friends from Torino Film Lab have just launched two calls for participants for their Script&Pitch and the Writer’s Room. Grab a pen and a paper and get ready to apply!
SCRIPT&PITCH
One more year, TorinoFilmLab, in partnership with NISI MASA and Le Groupe Ouest, organized a new edition of Script&Pitch, an advanced script development course for scriptwriters and directors of feature films all over the world.
TorinoFilmLab is looking for 16 projects, which will be developed in a 9 months-course (from March to November 2013, including 3 residential workshops and 2 on line sessions. The course will follow the entire scriptwriting process and will end with a final pitch in front of film professionals (producers, distributors, etc), which will take place during the Meeting Event in November 2013, during the next Torino Film Festival.
Script&Picth is open to professional scriptwriters, writer-directors, as well as to writer-producers and development executives with a good knowledge of English, as it’s the working language of all Script&Picth workshops and meetings.

WRITER’S ROOM
This year, and in collaboration with Power to the Pixel, TorinoFilmLab offers the Writer’s Room, focused on the process of developing two transmedia projects within a team framework. There will be two call for applications:
Call for transmedia projects:
Two transmedia projects will be selected to participate in the Writer’s Room 2013. The projects considered eligible must be fiction-based narrative and extend to more than one platform. In addition to the 2 authors with projects, 3 transmedia developers will be selected to join the workshop process, thereby completing the Writer’s Room team.
The team will work together under the guidance of tutor and story editor Gino Ventriglia, plus additional trainers with background in i.e and game development.
The Writer’s Room is aimed at professionals working across different platforms and media, such as story architects, games writers, audience engagement designers, online content developers, writers (script, TV, journalists etc.) and producers, who have experience within cross-media production.

BOOK OF PROJECTS 2013!
The second round of European Short Pitch will start on 1st of March in Luxembourg in collaboration with Discovery Zone, The Luxembourg City Film Festival and you can already have a look at the Book of Projects where you'll find all information about the 25 selected projects of European Short Pitch 2013! To kick off this second round, on 1st of March we'll be hosting a Panel Discussion, moderated by Matthieu Darras, to talk about the spread of co-production in the short film world. With the participation of Louise Bellicaud & Ron Dyens (Sacrebleu), Amel Bouzid (Novak Prod) & Marcell Gerő(Campfilm), Kaśka Krośny (East of West Cinema AB) & Joanna Solecka (Wajda Studio), Martin Repka and Daniele Segre (Redibis Film). This is the moment you've all been waiting for. NISI MASA – European Network For Young Cinema is proud to announce the Call for Projects for its 7th edition of EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH.
EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH is an initiative aimed at promoting European coproduction of short films which combines a scriptwriting workshop in residency, an on-line session and a Coproduction Forum bringing together scriptwriters and industry professionals from all over Europe.
EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH 2013 will consist of two main events:
1. The Scriptwriting Workshop: 8th to 13rd January 2013 in Zagreb (Croatia)
2. The Coproduction Forum: 1st to 3rd March in Luxembourg City (Luxembourg)
NISI MASA is calling for projects from writers, directors and producers (aged between 18-35 years old) with international short film projects in development. Your nationality or country of residence should be one of the member countries of the MEDIA Programme (European Union + Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland). European Short Pitch will also select up to 3 projects from non-member countries of the MEDIA Programme where NISI MASA has a member organisation: Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Russia and Ukraine.

EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH 2012 AWARD
2012 | NISI MASA News | Scriptwriting Workshops
European Short Pitch 2012 has come to an end. The scripts have been revised, the pitches have been made and the producers got their chance to discover some fresh blood and exciting new projects. From the 2nd till the 4th of March 2012 we organized our annual coproduction forum and pitching sessions in Maribor, Slovenia, this year's European Capital of Culture. During the pitching sessions and coproduction forum, 24 scriptwriter/directors were present, 36 industry professionals from all over Europe attended and in total, we facilitated 171 one-to-one sessions between participants and producers.
As of this year, an award ceremony took place, with three prizes of 1000€ each, called "The European Short Pitch 2012 Awards". During the pitching sessions in Maribor, the producers present got a change to pick their three favorites and this is what they came up. Silence. Start the drum roll. And the Winners are...

- Electrifying Love by Avgousta Zourelidi (Greece/UK)
Of course, in the context of European Short Pitch real success can only be measured on a long-term basis. Because in the end, cinema is what we aim for. A script is and will always be just a tool. But based on our observations, this pool of participants shows lots of potential for probably one of the most successful year's, film making wise, of European Short Pitch.

Since 2005 NISI MASA has been co-organising Script&Pitch, an advanced script development course for scriptwriters and directors of first and second features from all over the world.
The course lasts from March to November 2012, and foresees 3 residential workshops, 2 online sessions and 1 Alumni meeting. It follows the entire scriptwriting process, offering close collaboration and insights into the challenges of each step, from generating ideas and structuring the material through first and second drafts, up to a final pitch in front of producers and sales agents.
Script&Pitch is for both scriptwriters and story editors and is therefore open to professional scriptwriters, writer-directors, as well as to story editors, writer-producers and development executives.

In 2007 we began the European Short Pitch (ESP), an interesting initiative to support the development of young directors and to get their short films made as European coproductions. In 2012 it arrives at its 6th edition and we’re almost done with it!
A total of 25 short film projects made by young European filmmakers from the following countries were selected to participate at ESP: Italy, Great Britain, Bosnia, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Luxemburg, France, Malta, Greece, Slovakia and Romania. All the selected projects have participated in a scriptwriting workshop in Luxembourg (3rd to 8th January) and an online session (9th January to 15th February).
Now, all the participants have to face the hardest part: the pitching of their projects in the European coproduction forum that will take place in Maribor from 2nd to 4th March.
During this European Pitch and Coproduction Forum, young filmmakers and scriptwriters will get the chance to meet industry professionals and producers from all over Europe and most likely to get a European coproduction for its short film projects.
