European Short Pitch is about to launch its next edition and we’re looking for an intern to take on the position of project coordinator to complement the team already in place.
This is a great opportunity for young people looking to get an insight into the world of European short film (co)production, to work up, close and personal with some of the best and most experienced script editors in Europe, to dramatically expand your network and to travel all over Europe with some of the most exciting young filmmakers around.

NISI MASA – European Network of Young Cinema has hosted its annual General Assembly this week in Paris, and besides discussing about the future projects of the network and it’s members, the new president was chosen. Her name is Daria Blazevic and she’s the responsible for communication and cooperation with international organisations at Kinoklub Zagreb, NISI MASA representative in Croatia.
During the GA, our network members also decided which associations will be full members of NISI MASA: Kino Praha (Czech Republic), Generation Campus (Russia), Filmkraft (Norway), Cinemapolis (Montengegro) and Psarokokalo (Greece).
Last but not least, new organizations are joining the NISI MASA members as new observing members: InVitr0 (Czech Republic), Lago Film Fest (Italy), Aarhus Short Film Challenge (Denmark), Brive Film Festival (France), Ad Arte (Poland), Kratkofil Plus (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Kino Paname (France).
We are very happy to have them all on board and we are looking forward to starting our mutual collaboration with all of them

NISI MASA is looking for a devoted person with leadership and networking skills who can be the president of our network. The presidency is for three years and it has a representative and controlling function. Together with the Secretary-General and the Treasurer, you will compose the supervisory board of NISI MASA.
The President of the Supervisory Board should possess exceptional qualities of leadership, being able to inspire enthusiasm and bring together energies, with the aim of uniting very diverse people and associations in the service of NISI MASA’s common cause – Young European Cinema.

Between May 12th and May 14th, 2013, all the NISI MASA roads lead to Paris. The city will host the NISI MASA General Assembly (GA), one of the biggest encounters of the network. During the GA, representatives of the 28 NISI MASA member associations and 5 applying members will discuss and draw up action plans for future projects and strategies of the network in plenary and group sessions.
Young people from all over Europe (France, Germany, Russia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, England, Spain, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and many more) will gather to discuss the future of NISI MASA. They will help plan future projects to maintain the organization’s pioneer status in enhancing the use of new media, while supporting collaboration with its partners and aiming for an expansion of the network. They will present their initiatives in a project pitching fair, with the aim of finding partners to further develop these projects at European level.
Concerning the program, the four Head of Department of NISI MASA, together with the members of the network, will discuss on new forms of filmmaking – namely crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, collaborative filmmaking and kino kabaret. Other topics will include digital distribution and VOD, multimedia forms of filmmaking, transmedia and crossmedia and the use of blogs as creative platforms. Every evening film events and screenings open to the general public will showcase the best short films produced within the NISI MASA network. A brochure with the detailed program will be published to keep all participants fully informed about all the activities.
The purpose of this meeting is to a be an initiator for new projects with a focus on innovation. We expect that at least a dozen European youth audiovisual projects will be initiated in the following two years as a result of the new partnerships created. Developing a new network strategy is also on the agenda, especially focusing on integrating new media for the branding and media strategies of NISI MASA. Several cross-cultural exchanges between the member organizations will be planned and performed in the years 2013 to 2015. This multiplier effect is essential for the assembly itself. The participants are directly incentivized to collaborate, the meeting offering the opportunity to share their ideas with the other partners and realize them later on.
We had such a good and productive time in Strasbourg during GENERATOR: Youth Audiovisual Forum last January. This e-book is the summary of all the activities we did and the reaction of the participants.

Bristol Encounters, 13-19 APRIL 2013
Bristol Film Office, Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival and M Shed present the third edition of the 0117 Hour Challenge, inviting filmmakers, animators, visual and sound artists to make digital shorts focused on the theme of 'Journeys' and exploring Bristol Temple Quarter in just 117 hours. This high-energy event is part of a series of Bristol Temple Quarter commissions coordinated by Watershed, Knowle West Media Centre and MAYK, with support from Bristol City Council and ArtsCouncil England. The 0117 Hour Challenge has been held successfully for the last two years as a short film contest and gained interest as an example of the current Bristol filmmaking scene. For 2013 the brief has been expanded to include visual and sound artists, celebrating the diversity of the city's creative talents.
Between 13-19 April 2013, teams will be challenged to make a short digital piece of up to 3 minutes in length (drama,documentary, experimental, live action, animation or soundscape) in 117 hours. Work should draw on Bristol, (people, places o r life) as themes and inspiration as part of the overall theme of journeys. Each piece must also contain one selected location and another element, both of which will be given to teams during the launch briefing at M Shed on Saturday 13 April. Bristol Film Office is securing locations in the Bristol Temple Quarter, with all location fees waived for participants of the Challenge. In addition, independent production music library Synctracks is providing free access to its catalogue for registered teams, wit h a choice of thousands of contemporary tracks and an extensive classical collection.
The series of Bristol Temple Quarter commissions aims to engage people with Bristol Temple Quarter through new cultural experiences designed to surprise, question and delight. The commissions are seeking to document the present, reflect on the past and suggest new opportunities - as a location for enterprise; as a connected place for travel to, travel from, or travel through; and by projecting Bristol nationally and internationally.
The finished digital shorts will be showcased as part of a celebratory event on Friday 19 April, where the work that incorporates all of the criteria and captures the atmosphere of BTQ most succinctly will be awarded a prize of £1,000 cash by a distinguis hed jury. The shorts will be shown at further events in the South West and will also join the M Shed museum collections as part of the city's memory, available for future visitors to experience.

Already on its 8th edition, Nisimazine Cannes is one of the highlights of the year for us. Every year we gather a team of young writers from across Europe to cover one of the most famous and influential film festivals in the world.
Candidates should be citizens and/or residents of France, The Netherlands, Germany or Great Britain!
The selected applicants will be invited to attend one week of the Cannes Film Festival in order to form an international editorial team motivated to make innovative and fresh festival coverage. As always, it will be a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands on experience in film journalism and meet colleagues from different countries.
The team will be putting out frequent newsletters and create an e-book covering the Camera d'Or Competition (open to 1st features only) and the short-films present at the festival!
Nisimazine Cannes will be published online and spread through a network of thousands of contacts in the cinema industry. The gazette will have the format of our 'Nisimazine Special' editions, and will contain film reviews, interviews, thematic articles, news, pictures from the festival, etc.

The editorial team will be headed by staff who have been running the magazine together for many years and all over the world. Participants will also have the opportunity to work with renowned journalists from the field, to discuss their articles and photographs one on one. Attending journalists for this year will be announced very soon and will include some of the most influential film critics in Europe.
As of the announcement of selected participants, the essential preparation period will begin. Participants will be required to begin researching, making interviews, and taking part in online meetings to brainstorm the magazine’s content, and of course writing the first articles!
There will be 4 collective Skype meetings before the official beginning of the workshop. These meetings are compulsory and will be arranged at the most convenient and practical time for the group.
The preparation and workshop period is organized as follows:
- 27th of February – 14th of March Application period
- 15th of March Announcement of selected participants
- 15 th of March – 15 th of May Preparation period
- 15th of May – 26th of May Workshop
Participants will come to Cannes in 2 teams:
- one team for the first week (Wednesday 15th to Monday 20th of May 2013);
- another team for the second week (Monday 20th to Sunday 26th of 2013).
Each team will consist of at least 3 writers and 1 photographer.
Accommodation will be provided for the week of the festival the participant is invited for. Participants will be sharing an apartment with the editorial staff. Personal food costs will be the responsibility of each participant (possibility to cook in the apartment kitchen). 50% of travel costs will be reimbursed upon presentation of the travel documents.
There is a participation fee of 165 Euros.
The fee will have to be paid to NISI MASA before 10th of April 2013.
