CINE - BOAT FILMS INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE AT CANNES 51st CRITICS' WEEK

The 24th May NISI MASA will be, for the sixth time, showcasing at the 51st Cannes Critics’ Week. This time, we will be premiering the 6 documentary films result of Cine- Boat, a workshop that was part of the Polyglot: on the way to Turku initiative, which also included a short film contest and mini film festival. The project was organised by NISI MASA with the support of the Turku 2011 European Cultural Capital and the European Cultural Foundation.

The Cine – Boat was held in June 2011, when 18 young European filmmakers travelled by boat across the archipelago of Turku (Finland), exploring the unique local culture of the different islands – home to many Swedish-speaking Finns. Guided by award-winning documentarist Peter Kerekes (Slovakia), the crews produced 6 short documentary films.

All of the Cine-Boat short films will also be present at the Short Film Corner, and a DVD / catalogue will be available. The premiere will be attended by the filmmakers.
